My wife has just been on the phone to tell me her mother wants to go a cruise at the beginning of next month and wants her to go with her, How did i feel??? Eh!! Yes dear if you wish....... Thats good she says i've just gone and booked one./forums/images/icons/crazy.gif. Why ask, i wondered....
So off she goes on the 9th Sept, for a 12 day cruise From Greenock to Gibralter and back. Maybe not the nicest of cruises but the Mother in law cannot fly, and its the only thing available apparently.
She says its a good way to find out if we'd like a cruise for a holiday, I'm not sure of it myself, stuck in a confined space for so long, and not being able to helm myself and play with the radio.

MMmmmm So theres me, gonna be all home alone with just the mutt to keep me company..... What will i do......maybe i could go too the boat on my own 2 weekends running, and maybe i could fly down midweek to go to SIBS...... I just don't know!!!!!
Lifes cruel aint it../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

Alistair,

The "Mother in law cannot fly," neither could mine even although she had a Broom stick.
Cruising what a fabulous holiday, tried it last year under duress and after three days at sea my wife picked up the courage to ask me if I was enjoying it. Answer: Yes they will have to take me of here kicking and screaming.
Would be doing it again this year if I was not honouring a long time promise to go to Canada.

JIm.

Maybe it should be 'Will not', But its due to Medical reasons.

I've never been sure about going a cruise, but you never know till you try it, i suppose.

Cheers.

Alistair.

That could be a match made in heaven.

You buy yours and I'll buy mine, then we'll just swap lumps.

You won't have to worry about having a smokey noisy diesel in your new Rinker then. (We'll even have two undisturbed weeks to do the transplant!)

<hr width=100% size=1><font color=blue> <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mboat.org>http://www.mboat.org</A></font color=blue>

LOL,, You've got that well planned, haven't you??

Have you been talking to my misses???

Single malt !!!!
Who said single malt without "Ian do you want a" in front of it. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

<hr width=100% size=1>Play the best game you can with the cards you've been dealt ! ! !

We did a fly/cruise in the Caribbean on P&O's Oceana in January (We flew on a plane, not the Oceana....Oh! never mind!). I was full of scepticism, but we had a ball!! The boat was huge (77000 tons), 2000 passengers, and 950 crew, Even with so many people, it felt almost empty, except for the pool/lido area during the days at sea. With 13 restaurants, six or seven bars (I lost count!), a casino, two theatres, library, internet room, we were never short of things to do!

So, if you are forced to go sometime, don't dispare too much - you might just like it!

<hr width=100% size=1>

But its also the fact about dressing up for dinner every night, I hate wearing a shirt and tie!!
I always go out in my old rags wether people like it or not, Jeans and a T shirt, thats me./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Took you a while to find it....

Do you fancy it yerself????
Although at that age, i think it might me slightly over priced. What do you think?

I too am sceptical about a cruise, and was beginning to question that until your post!

Yarmouth has more restaurants, Poole more bars, Bournemouth the theatres, library and internet rooms and I can get on with that oil change if I get bored......./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Equally I would rather a night on board (calm, warm etc) than a hotel, a BBQ than fine dining etc

I see a holiday as a time to do the things I want to do - work, which I admit does entail hotels and dining from time to time, is about having to do things whether you want to or not.

I will admit that cruising must be pretty much the ultimate break from having to do anything though...........
