Holy exploding battery Batman.

Yep posted a thread recently.
But it seemed to have flown over every bodies head .

Good job too, that amount of bullshit full in the face would have been most unpleasant..

You don’t half talk some nonsense Portofino - this, from your post on your thread:

‘Surveyor picked up on some “dry cells “ -in Feb and S/ Sker supposed to have followed the recommendations which inc replace theses bats as a condition of sale .
3 month Warranty has expired and this is the 1 st proper chance the new owner ( neighbours) have had to use it .

Now we are told “only some “ not all bats were changed by S/Sker sales guy in La Napoule .

Plot thickens as the S/ Sker engineer who does bats ( he did my engines last Nov ) has let slip he has never been on to do any bat work !

Of caurse at this stage we don,t exactly which bats were replaced if any now - and which not .’

If anything, the ECU glitches did your mate a favour.....

Pair of engine batts that dropped V this time hence the symptoms .
The others initially were domestic it turns out .Apologies for not making the distinction.
There does not appear to be much head room in lower Voltage Nigel before codes are thrown on the now turns out engine batts .

The disablement of joystick seems to happen first .
“ stop engine “ isn,t funny entering a marina as well .

Where as with a normal even electronic engine as the main engine batts deteriorates you may get them low enough to get the classic erh erh erh hesitating starting , once running of courses no disabled joystick because there isn’t,t one .
Granted “ limp mode “ a rpm restriction, may possibly occur buts that’s not as scary to a twin shaft guy mooring med style .

So the V tolerance is very narrow before codes are thrown .

Btw while on this topic , ( sorry for the TD ) another IPS boat ( Fiart 48 ) from Italy is stranded here been here over a week .
Owners gone home on the train .
Local “ Marine motors “ local VP agents had guys down every day .
It’s 4 boats up from me .
Seen a lot of trolley loads of hydraulic oil moving about .

So starting the boat today and there was a god awful bang from the engine room and the EVC display sets off alarms and the goes blank.

A strong smell is present.

We open the engine hatch slowly. I’m thinking blown engine.

It quickly becomes apparent that a battery let go big style. What a mess.

Hopefully all sorted now and a new battery in.

Bugger me with a fish fork that was a complete ball ache.

Not heard the fish fork one. Used to have a foreman who used to threaten to **** up the...... 'where the sun don't shine with a rotating pineapple.
