I have now officially finished work for a weeks boating. The plan is that me the other half and the 2 Mogsters, will set off tomorrow or Sunday and cruise down the Witham to Boston. I hope to take the boat out into the wash ( never bin to sea before).
The boat is a Sealine 310 with twin 200hp Volvo's. I am not to bothered about staying out for long so may go out and back in on the incoming and outgoing levels, if I have the Bottle that is.

Wednesday looks a good day high water Boston 12.31..... Leave first level 10.31am back in 2.31pm. The lock needs booking 24 hours in advance.

It takes about an hour to get into the Wash from the lock.

I am free Wed if you want a pilot for the day !

Where are you going to moor in Boston. The Boston Motor Yacht club would be your cheapest option. I can get you some contact details if you like.

I would offer you a mooring at my sailing club, but we don't allow smokers !!!!

As you have not been out before and you will have the wife and kids with you I would definately take paulburton up on his very kind offer. I would not recomend going out there for the first time with dependants as you will find it very stressful. Going with a load of blokes for the first time is a different matter.

Have a good trip.

Agree with what's already been said, it's a whole different world out there and Paul's offer is one I would definately take him up on. The entire system out there is like a different world when you do it for the first time, I was lucky and had a few trips out with others before daring to do it on my own, and I would definately want to do it the same way if I was starting over again. Time it badly and you might get away with it and spend the day on a sandbank, but you might not be so lucky. Please take Paul up on his offer, I would.
Best wishes
Sandbanks Dave ;)

Have you been on the sea before?
If you have and you're OK with the basics of navigation and bouyage, it's not a big deal. Otherwise, take the offer of help....
If you're going to do a "tide top" and pick a decent day for it, there's not a lot to worry about. Channels are well bouyed and there will be water over all the sandy bits!
With 400 horses, you could shoot out through the Freeman channel and back with time to spare.

I take it you're aboard this evening ?
What weather you hoping for tomorrow ?
Can't make it out but would be interested to hear what your reports say compared to what I'm expecting, then see what does happen later
Landline call is available if you want to keep quiet about what you're expecting, in case it doesn't happen :D

I'm off to the boat any minute now, light westerly expected which should be backing S or S/W later.
Not much wind and a bit of sun.....
Will let you know what happened. :)

That bloody Vodaphone ad is still there!

Cheers for the offer of being a pilot for our trip and will gladly take up your offer. My father who has been boating many a year now had ordered me the latest chart for the wash ,but it has not turned up so i hope i can pick one up locally.
I plan to get to Boston Monday night , Tuesday morning and i will moor up on the British waterway moorings, i did this when i had my Seamaster 8m and had no problems.
The boat is a Sealine S310 called Freya. I will send my moblie No by a PM.
I said that i will have the wife and the 2 "MOG"sters with me i.e. Amanda
and 2 Cats.

Hi, sent you my number.

I have a chart that is about 10 years out of date. I could dust it off. We will watch the weather and see what happens.

I am a sailer not a motor boater, but I have been out in the Wash a couple of times in the past !!!!!!!
I always take my own handheld GPS and VHF when going on someone elses boat. I will also bring my own lifejacket etc.

Paul.
