Holidays and weather

With two weeks holiday starting Monday it was to have been one week up river and one down. Currently on yellows on our bit of the river, and another shed load of rain yesterday/last night, the up river bit looks decidedly iffy. Most of week one will now be in a Cotswold cottage on the top of a hill very close to a good pub

Week two still plan a down river trip, hopefully in company as there will just be me and SWMBO aboard as the crew hasn't materialised. Fingers crossed for reasonable weather.

We too have been waiting for the weather to get better all July. We are heading off next thursday evening up river (probably to Abingdon and then back).

Should have gone Wednesday, promised we would start tonight, but still dithering. Memories of being caught out in 2007 lingers on.

We also have two weeks off from Monday. We planned a slow Oxford and back. Now looking for something else to do the first week and hoping the second may give us some time on the river. That's if the boat is back in the water by then.

We have just come back from a great week away (see wells topic). Had we listened to the forecasts which were shockingly bad we would have missed a great holiday and some unexpected good weather.

If the good weather does materialise the Thames is going to be a very busy place.

Cruising in the rain I can tollerate. It's the getting out part at locks I can't abide .

Hence three weeks on the Broads for me in August. I might even stay .
