Holding tanks Charter in Italy

Rod Heikell writes in his supplement to Italian Waters Pilot that Holding tanks are not yet required by law for yachts visiting Italian waters. They are required on charter boats.

I have booked a charter in May in bay of Naples on brand new 40' Sun oddyssey nd have been told it has no holding tank!

This law seems quite right to me; after all, we have the best cuisine in the world here, and we don't want all that foreign s--t here thank you very much!

"the best cuisine in the world..." Those who have travelled in the realms of
gold know that the Italians are tops for starters and finishers and clueless in
the middle. That's not so bad, caro, but the fact that you use a French word
to further your dubious claim points to where it really happens. And where
holding tanks are also a subject of postprandial conversation (but not much
more). The above (adding a digestif) IMHO, bien entendu.
