Hogwart\'s mix - not one barnacle

For two years now, I have mixed copper dust (350 micron) into my antifoul paint and for the second year running I can report that not one single barnacle has infested my hull. Good result all round, with lower fuel consumption and better performance.

Mix dust with paint using electric drill stirrer attachment - add slowly, just enough to start to give a coppery sheen to the paint. No more or it starts to thicken, and you need to keep the same consistency.

I 've started, so I'll finish...

A very clear, straightforward doc from the HSE is here.

As a dust, the copper is not a nice human-friendly product, so normal precautions of mask, protective clothing and gloves is recommended. Other than that, if the additive works, ..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
