HMS Richmond

Grey Funnel line has rafted HMS Richmond alongside HMS Belfast. The ships company will be marching in Richmond Upon Thames on Friday.

She came into Portsmouth in late June - got a few shots of her:

She was in Portsmouth in Early december as well.

Hurrah.....RAFTED alongside whoop whoop.........

Now we just need to get the hoi polloi to realise its not that difficult, might be fun, and could revolutionise the moorings availability on the NTT (Non Tidal Thames).

Yeah get some other muppet to moor bankside and scrape their props on the shallow bottom, then moor alongside them in the deeper water...

...you get the narrowboats to use fenders then I will moor alongside them.

Until then - nah mate.

PS Are you sure you are not working for "Er Indoors"?

What's wrong with your own fenders Mike? You seem to keep getting into trouble for having them down all the time !!

Another boat bankside to moor alongside is actually quite a useful solution for me - do it quite often.

I do wish you'd try seeing the cup is half full instead of half empty........

Oh dear, well that does mean you would have to lift them up a bit which appears to be a problem...... :D

Happy to lift them up.......at sea........when no need for them.

Any chance of asking your boss whether they could make it mandatory for visiting boats to have fenders?

Summary of humourous dinner conversation last night.

I am surprised the Govenment still allow current warships to moor against HMS Belfast.
Why would that be?
To the man on the Clapham omnibus the modern ship appears rather smaller and his Dad will have told him we used to have LOTS like the bigger one, and its got more guns too.

:-)

PIccy just need brightening up a little - although the camouflage is pretty good.
Isn't she tiny alongside Belfast !!

Titter ye not. A naval friend is of the opinion that a few vessels the size of HMS Belfast but with modern equipment would make a highly viable addition to the two new carriers, and porvide for substantial employment in British shipyards for a very long time. Of course, money is no object in these discussions, which are often fuelled by port!
