HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Haydn today as he shot down the M5, along with his loverly wife Tutts.

He's a nice, softly spoken, kind, house trained, well mannered guy ....

So perceptions can be wrong /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

Haydn, Tutts and Longjohn (on his boat) looked like they were comfortably still tucked up in bed (curtains drawn, no sign of life) when I left Salcombe this morning

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

I met him and Tutts for first time this weekend, in Salcombe. They plied me with booze, fed me, and made me laugh, (and lent me bits to do some running repairs to windscreen which got shaken loose on the way there.) Lovely couple. Longjohn was there too, and he also assisted in the plying me with booze bit.

I'll need to meet them again now so that I can reciprocate

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

Lymington - that's where it's based, I don't launch as I don't trailer.
There were a lot of other Pathfinder Powerboat Club boats there though, and they trailered down and launched at Salcombe

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

Thats quite a run for a boat your size down to Salcombe - how long did it take and at what speed ??

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

It's about 4 hours on a good day. Neither the run out nor back were entirely good days, so about 6 hours each way. It's about 112 miles (just over a hundred nautical miles), depending on exact route.

I'll write it up, as Haydn is always complaining that no one writes about their voyages anymore, and this was a little more interesting than most that I do, one way and another. Don't expect it to be as entertaining as one of Haydn's tales though!

...and I'm sure that Haydn and LJS will have a few points to add!

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

You back already? I thought you were there for the week! Did Sumprezi and Rafiki arrive OK? I'm off down to Poole first thing in the morning - there for three days so I may not get back to answer. How was it?

Re: HLB\'s a nice guy !!!!

No, I was only there for the weekend. Rafiki and Sumprezi still at Weymouth last I heard - engine and throttle cable problems respectively I believe??
