On the Orwell on Monday we passed an interesting looking vessel on the barge mooring off Pin Mill, we thought she might be a Humber Keel.

So took a pic, see above, and once home googled Daybreak and discovered that she is indeed a fully rigged Humber Keel. In 1934 she was the last ship to be built in the UK to carry cargo under sail. She is currently the National Historic Ships' Flagship of the Year and is on a voyage that started from Staines in June returning to the Humber via various East Coast destinations on her way. She was at the Harwich sea festival at Ha'Penny Pier a week or so ago and will be at the Ipswich Festival this weekend. Loads more fascinating info can be found on hkdaybreak@wordpress.com

While on the subject of historic ships, there are currently two engineless Thames barges in the Ore and Alde this week: Mirosa (anchored off Havergate near Lady Flo's mooring) and Edme (anchoring near Slaughden as we passed her). Mirosa comes every year for her holidays but not sure if Edme has been in before:
