I spent an hour last night trying to get a 7 x 19 wire to fit into a norseman terminal (the one with the 'crown' placed on top of the cone). The wire kept fraying and was impossible to fit.

There must be a better technique than I used. Any suggestions?

What were you using to cut the wire? I found a 1mm blade in a grinder leaves a nice clean end, istr giving it a quick tiny taper with a file. Also, if the wire is in a vice it holds it steadier when fitting the sleeve. I redid all my rigging in dyform, bit fiddly but getting the wire into the sleeve was not too bad.

Is 7X19 recommended by Norseman?
Ed: just look at Moray's notes. Different cones for 7X19 than 1X19.
DW

7 x 7 and 7 x 19 use same cones. I am not using 1 x 19 (not suitable for this application).

I use disk on dremel tool. Will try with vice (and perhaps a bit of superglue on end of each 19 strand if vice doesn't work alone).

Ps - blue wave terminals for me in future ....

Here's a Youtube showing what to watch out for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AsEXFr8NrU part two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqEspc0HD2s&feature=related

And another showing how easy it can be.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC8SFXeokgE&feature=related

Perhaps you were tightening the outer rather than the inner?

Yes, seen those. No hints there about 7 x 19 wire which difers from the other forms. Last one is particulalry annoying - too fast, no explanation, and what is that thing hidden in his hand. Educational rating: 1 out of 20.

Well, I gave up with swageless terminals and 7 by 19 wire. S3i said send them back (always good service from them, I find). Blue wave ones seemed perfect - but £75 for two. So ... swaged it will have to be.
