Hinge required

Hi all

I need a small piano hinge for a (small) locker door. The original (+30 years old) was brass and a fine item but has now seen its day.

Size wise it needs to be 1cm wide (open) and max 23cm long.

Now in the absence of brass, I have seen plastic ones, has anybody seen a supplier of either?

You can get 304 stainless 'continuous hinge' that's pretty close to that size. Perhaps 15mm open. Probably cheaper than brass these days. I think I have a 2m long section in the van in preveza!

A "proper" Ironmongers will have what you want. Depending on where you are, there is one not far from me, well an hours drive, that will have what you want. Last time I was in there they had a whole range of piano hinges in brass and polished satinless. I picked one up for an antique desk thing. They had the width but not the right length. The have long lengths whic they cut to your requirements.

If dimensions are forth coming I could call in when I'm passing next, probably in the next few days.......

Be warned that ones you buy in the ironmongers will probably only be brass plated. Havng said that, the ones I put in SR have lasted 15 years & are still working despite being rust coloured rather than brass coloured now.

Loads on e-bay, some even claim to be made of brass, but I doubt it. Most admit to being plated.
