I bought an old Family Marina 16 ft. boat as a project boat. Need the HIN for the boat registration. Anyone knows where to find the HIN on this old boat, because I didn`t find it at all.

I don't know, however (and assuming it even has a HIN) there are usually 2-3 scattered around the boat so that removing it is not that simple
- at the back on the transom
- on a bearer in the engine room
- in the bottom of a wardrobe that is part of the main GP structure ( fairline do this) which is then glassed over with clear gelcoat

It may, or more likely may not, have one. Just get an indelible marker and make one up and write it on the inside of the transom somewhere out of sight. I had an old boat like a marina once and it had a metal plate, like car Vin plate, riveted near the helm with a serial number in it. If yours had one if these it is likely long gone.

Your boat predates the compulsory introduction of HIN (1997) so it won't have one. As said it may have had some form of factory identification, but that is all a bit meaningless now.
Presumably you are in a country where registration is compulsory. In the UK there is no compulsion and even HIN does not have any real official relevance. Only really used to assist identification of boat when buying.

Yes. I try to register in Holland and they ask for the HIN and year of the boat.

I am sure there are many boats in holland that are as old or older and do not have an HIN. Is it compulsory to register?
There is a space on our registration form for an HIN. If you do not have one you just write No HIN or Not Applicable.

Yes I did this when I applied for the registration. They sent me back a form by post to complete the HIN and year of the boat. I was told that without the HIN the boat cannot be registered. I e-mailed them telling that there is no HIN on the boat, and the boat is probably to old to have one. Maybe I can use the HIN, CLB is already post it for me. Waiting for their answer.

Better still, go to a key cutting / engravers place and I'm sure they could make a little plaque (with the info above) that you could stick to the inside of the hull. I'll happily supply you an "original" for £250!

That is all very well, but the suggested made up number does not conform to the HIN format, and it should be moulded into the hull, which it clearly is not.
Rather presumptuous to think that the Dutch authorities are so ignorant that they would not notice a fake.

HIN formats were not around in the 70's, there were no standard about where it should be, how it should be marked, or even that one was required. There will be no way to prove something is a fake.

I know that. But just making up a number with HIN is dishonest and fakery.
That is why you were ignored by some for suggesting something that is both impractical and dishonest.
The OP needs to discuss his problem with the authorities as I am sure he is not alone in having an old pre HIN boat.
