I have been looking at Hillyard 2.5 tonners with a view to buying one at some time in the near future. I have never owned a wooden boat before and wonder if anybody can give me an idea of the kind (and cost!) of maintenance needed each year.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Good choice. I had a 2.5 tonner (not a Hillyard, but similar) for 12 years, and whilst the running costs would be out of date due to inflation, they were quite modest. There are many older books describing what needs to be done, and it has not changed - try your local public library for titles by Michael Verney and Francis B Cooke.

A deep water mooring is likely to be the biggest expense.
