Hilary Lister: quadriplegic sailor dies aged 46

Very sad to hear this.

I met her some years ago, when I called into Ramsgate.

I knew nothing about her, and was strolling around the pontoons looking at interesting boats.

I'd been admiring an amazing, hi tec, keel boat, for a while, trying to work out what all the bits of string did, when a specially equipped van pulled up.

It was Hilary, her sister, and another helper.

They were all very happy to chat for twenty minutes or so.

Hialry was then craned into a gimballed cocoon type thing, a control tube put in her mouth, and she went skimming off across the harbour in very fine style

An extraordinarily talented, charming and inspiring young woman, with a real zest for life.

I met her boat in Whitehills in the Moray Firth. The lady herself wasn't around
