I ordered this book last week:

http://www.workingsail.co.uk/new-book/

It is a beautiful story, well told, with lovely illustrations, nostalgic photographs.....oh yeah.....and some quite nice boats.

I have no interest in promoting this, except that it deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.

Yes.....you definitely should buy it!

Neal,

thanks, looks like my sort of book !

Another one which should be of interest to all yotties is ' Down Channel ' by R.T. McMullen; he was a Victorian sailor who almost invented leisure sailing, among his wide range of traditional boats he had a big gaffer, when he considered his paid crew too lazy he sacked them and sailed her back across the Channel to the East Coast singlehanded, a feat thought impossible at the time.

His last boat was found on a beam reach mid - Channel with his dead hand on the tiller and face toward the sun; a good way to go.

Just to say that I ordered this book and it arrived yesterday.

It really is a terrific book. Excellent narrative with great photos.

Can't recommend it too highly.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I echo the OP - buy it - you won't be disappointed!

Phew!! Glad you like it...it's always a bit nerve-racking to recommend something!

In fact, I've followed my own recommendation, and bought another copy for a mate.
