High winds in mallorca

Some high winds in mallorca and a few boats damaged in andratx

Go to around 20 seconds in the video. Almost the entire starboard been destroyed! Is it me or does the rope not look thick enough for the job and/or they should have additional ropes to moor the boat. The side on wind must cause an unbelievable force!

Apparently 3 boats around this size were sunk.

Andratx is really exposed to the South West. This happened a few years ago, there were sunken boats all over the place.

Andraitx is well known for being exposed to heavy winds with any west in them. Boats are damaged there on a regular basis. Its happened before and it will happen again. Were the winds also accompanied by a storm surge because thats really dangerous?

Is it me or does the rope not look thick enough for the job and/or they should have additional ropes to moor the boat.

I guess you could say that the remaining bits of mooring lines visible in the video are not impressive.
But from the video alone, I struggle to imagine how the boat was originally moored, and if/what should have done better...
I suspect that the bigger mistake was in the choice of the place where to leave the boat - probably unattended.
Regardless, a sad sight indeed!

Agreed a sad sight.

According to an English report she was up for sale for 3.4m.... I wonder what the insurers will have to say about how secure she was.
