On my volvo d3 110 I want to add a High output alternator but the fitting is rather complicated unless you buy a 1000€ special Volvo fitting.

What if the HOA is not fitted on the engine but on a homemade fitting screwed beside the engine?

I think engine movement would lead to belt problems if the second alternator isn't securely attached to the engine. The VP bracket is expensive, but it's well-engineered and will cope with the substantial vibration loads which a heavy alternator can impose. I fitted a VP second alternator bracket to my 2003T some yearsago, and it's worked very well.
