A new one on me ....................a Corniche 31 .
Any suggestions at all what so ever.
Not the gauges, checked with mechanical gauge.
Filters changed.
Release valves checked.
Oil cooler removed and checked.
60lbs on idle
90 lbs with a few revs.

Skipper is getting an oil test done.
Would have thought contamination by diesel (hosing injector ..all recently refurbed) would result in low pressures. ?

If you go to this forum High oil pressure. where someone had the same problem on the 4 cylinder version, then scroll down to a March 8th posting where he says how it was fixed. May be just a sticking pressure relief valve in the oil filter housing below the oil cooler. Had the engine been unused for a long time?

Thanks for responses, waiting for results of oil test.
Engine being checked out by somebody who really should know what they are doing ?
Cannot imagine that the crankcase filters have not been checked /changed.
Problem seems to have suddenly occured after a long hard run back from Dunkerque a week or two ago.

Does it stay at 90 psi after idle speed ?
If so it sounds like the piston cooling jet relief valve is stuck

Under investigation at mo ,curious that this occured so suddenly after a long hard run.
Worth noting this engine had been lying idle for some time, considerable work having been undertaken to rectify a litany of delayed maintaince by the previous owner which came back to bite the new owner. :(

I get this but oil pressure behaves normally then after some time it gradually increases to about 90 psi. The needle flickers by +/- 2psi at this pressure. I cured it once before and I recall it was something electrical in the VP control panel. I need to have another look as it has reappeared.
The flicker suggests a poor joint. The increase in pressure rather than reduction suggests there is a bit more to it. A poor joint would be expected to manifest as a reduction in pressure.

Skipper has removed/ dismantled/ cleaned everything mechanical possibly connected with the problem.
All lovingly been sprayed with outrageously over priced rattle cans of Volvo Penta green and is all being bolted back on at this very mo.

Everything to do with oil was stripped cleaned and reattached. Engine flushed with some sort of flushing oil .
New oil and filter.
Pressures at high and low idle back to normal and all OK on test run. (y)
