Good pics. I hope they are on schedule. I would like to launch back into the Basin at the end of April or v. early May so I can go and have a look at the SW Sunk swatchway. A mid May couple of tides are perfect for that ... provide the lock is back open. Seems to be making progress though.

We visited Maldon on Boxing Day (a really delightful place) and thought we'd leave the car there and walk to Heybridge Basin but we never made it, instead we ended up in a grungy rundown area behind LIDL's near a tank museum and decided to abandon the attempt and try another time when we have a map.

You'll have heard this dozens of times before I'm sure, but I very much enjoy your book! I had cause to use it recently and it was a very useful crew member!

It's a lovely walk and you were sort of going the right way. Let me know next time you attempt it and I'll get you as far as the sea wall at the navigable head of the Blackwater. Good boozer waiting at the basin too!

Yes, you turned right too soon, you have to walk further along The Causeway before turning right so that you can get round the top of Heybridge Creek.
Or you could follow the canal.

BUT ..... The military services museum is worth a visit

Come to the Basin, park in the free car park, and combine the canal and seawall walk before refreshment at a place of your choosing. Walk is about 1hour 30 mins and until it rains next will be a dry one.

Unc ( of the Basin)
