Am I alone in thinking the ybw mailing lists aren't running very sweetly in the last couple of days? I've had my computer hang up when posting a couple of times now and then give odd messages like "post already exists". I note a couple of other regular users (and thus presumably au fait with how the thing works) have made inadvertent multiple posts or had to post the same questionmore than once. Something to look at, Kim? Or is it me?

Regards, Mudhook.

And me!

Annoying that you cannot delete multiple posts when they happen. Another regular message I get when trying to reply:

We encountered a problem. The reason reported was:

All of the required fields are not filled in.

we do have some problems

Note I avoided calling them 'issues'

Looking at the fastest way of getting sorted with minimum upset. We've tweaked and fine-tuned but basically we're getting hit with so much traffic now that the database is occasionally waving the white flag at peak times and we are aware the problem is getting worse, for which apologies.

More news as soon as we've got our heads around the way we want to play this one.

Meantime, if you press post and nothing appears to happen before pressing post again please open a second window and check...you may well find that your post has appeared. Some of the errors happen when the post button is pressed several times (the system used to deal with this but it is a bit like me, getting old and cranky).

Re: we do have some problems

I repeat below a couple of postings I have just made on Scuttlebutt. Could the problem be at the sender's end with the privacy settings of his Windows? My postings are:-

"For some reason my comments failed to load, or so my computer said. I kept trying but no go.

Then they appeared! Recently replies have been taking an interminable time to load, that's if they didn't fail altogether. No problem on any other site. What's happening, or not happening, on YBW.

(I'm repeating this on the "Web Non Boating" site. Perhaps Kim or Paul know the answer"

and subsequently:-

Think I may have solved it. Upgraded to Windows XP and set the "privacy" too high. Would not accept some kinds of cookies which I presume YBW sends. Will now try with this entry."

This one uploaded fine in 12 seconds.
