There was a Class Notes written on the Herreshoff Islander in Classic Boat, no138 – December 1999. There have also been several articles in Yachts & Yachting and Yachting Monthly in 1953-54.
Designed in the early 1950s by Sidney W Herreshoff, son of Nat Herreshoff, the Islanders are 21ft 3in LOA and were built in this country by Port Hamble Ltd of Hamble. Some were exported to the US but there are still quite a few in this country.
I've just acquired a Herreshoff Islander. I cannot find any info on Port Hamble Ltd., the builder. Can you give me any information? I'm located in Boston (USA).
