A big thanks to Landlocked pirate for helping me post these pictures.

So on Wednesday I took delivery of my new boat.....here she is...

Surprised! She is a Benetaeu Cyclades 43.....and only has one small Yanmar engine (54hp)

Here I am skippering her back

And here she is sat on her new berth

She has two helm possitions and a top of the range Raymarine E120 set up, the big screen in the middle

And she is big! This is what she looks like out of the water..

She has 3 ensuite double cabins, two large sails and makes me smile a lot!

excellent, do enjoy.... and nice to see something with vertical metal sticks, lots of wire and a big keel on the Mobo forum!

... now, do you know what they all do, or would you like me to explain?

Cheers Al,

We set out looking for a large sportscruiser. However the more time we spent on the water round here the more we realised we needed a serious sea boat. We then moved to looking at Flybridges and nearly bought a Prestige 36FB. But we still felt it was too small for the larger seas. Over the summer we used quite a few sail boats as most boats are sail boats and, well, SWMBO realised that a Big sail boat was the way to go. I have sailed a long time and got really into it again even doing the Gibraltar Regatta....Yacht racing! In the end we realised that a big sailing boat was what we wanted so we bought one! She is huge and has a 14.5ft beam! Got to say I love living next to her as I live in an apartment overlooking her and it takes me 3 mins to get to her.

We will go back to power.....but for now we are sailors. Fortunately I still have this little girl which allows me to stay on MOBO chat

Sailboats fantastic. I still prefer sailing for the joy of being at sea, and I think a sailboat is the best one to be in when it gets a bit rough.

But ohhhh that sea is so green whats happened to the blue?

The Blue is in British Waters and the Green is in Spanish waters (La Duquesa). If you think the green looks bad you should smell it in the heat of the summer!!!

The Straits of Gibraltar get very rough, very quick and having 7 ton of keel underneath makes you feel a lot safer. Also at Anchor she sits very nicely...

Nice boat, (you might upset some rag and stick people if you say it's a small engine on scuttlebut though!)

You'll be in the Caribbean next! it would be a comfortable trip on that boat.

Excellent. Looks a super boat and I hope you have a lot of pleasure out of her.

I fully expect your next post to be a rant about excessive wash...:D

Cheers guys.

As I live so close I go down every evening with a few beers and sit and clean her/tidy her/ explore lockers! I am a very proud owner as it is beyond what I ever thought I would own (or be able to safely handle).

I have to say that Sail boats have a lot more lockers than power boats. Everywhere I look something lifts up or opens. It is like a tardis. If any one is ever in the area and fancies a try sail (I will not tell) let me know! Not sure if it is a long term direction change but a short term solution. I believe you should adapt your style of boating to where you do it and how much time you have. In the past I travelled 1-2 hrs to get to the boat then had to unload, sort out etc so a Power Cruiser made sense as I then just wanted to get away. Now life is much slower and I enjoy getting from A-B and do not waste time travelling to the boat and back and can unload her/load her anytime.

Cheers

Paul
