Does anyone know if it is possible to check that a depth sounder is working before being put back into the water?

It won't tell you anything about accuracy but if you turn on a tranny radio on long wave and hold it near the transducer you will pick up "pings".

Thanks Gordon will give it a try in the morning. Weather was good at Lossie today lotsa peeps working on the hard. One boat was having its hull stripped back to Gelcoat prior to antifouling. They were using Soda Crystals as the abrasive supposed to not affect the Gel. Hmmmm
