THURSDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 2012
FOR 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF
WATCHET HARBOUR LIGHTHOUSE
Watchet is delighted that HRH Princess Royal has accepted an invitation to visit the town, this coming Thursday, 20th September, in her role as President of The Royal Yachting Association to unveil a plaque to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the town's iconic lighthouse.
The Royal Standard will be raised on the West Pier. Sea Scouts will give a sailing demonstration in the harbour prior to the unveiling of the plaque. HRH Prince Royal will visit the Town Museum and be given a brief overview of 1000 year history of the Port of Watchet. She will see the recently refurbished Fitzroy Barometer, then walk past the Yankee Jack statue (four people will be singing the Yankee Jack sea shanty.)
She will then be escorted on to the Station Platform where the Steam Engine 7828 Norton Manor and two carriages will be on the station. She will then visit the Boat Museum and then name the Sea Scouts new training/rescue inflatable boat ‘ Jubilee’.
The Scouts will then pipe the departure of HRH Princess Royal.
Watchet Marina have agreed that on the Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th September night berthing fees will be half price for all Bristol Channel Yachting Association registered vessels. Vessels must be dressed overall.
