Can I still get a service kit for an old Mk IV or do I need to upgrade to a MkV (Whale)?

Yes try Whale pumps or most online chandlers or ebay.

Whale pumps do not do a Mk IV kit anymore, so I assume it is upgrade time, lucky my financial calcualtions were on the back of a fag packet I threw away!

I got some spares for a brass pump from him he may be able to help you with your Mk IV.
I am lucky I have some spare bits for mine. After that it will be a MkV. But don't give up hope check out ebay.
