I am pleased to say that after spending the last six weeks on a Dutch yacht I have managed to vastly improve their already excellent English.

Their lexicon now includes such gems as "Every day is a school day", "You are depriving a village of an idiot" (and the associated "Don't worry, we'll find your village") and the timeless classic, "Up here for thinking, down there for dancing" :)

Some Scots we knew who picked up a French sailor from his sinking boat during the ARC were successful in teaching him important phrases. In particular he learned that the correct answer to 'Do you want a drink?' is 'Is the Pope a Catholic?'
