help with xmdsc radio

we have a XM Yachting XMDSC radio and cant programme in data ie position/ time etc i have followed instructions exactly as per book still with no joy. the info goes in but is not retained.
Also the garmin 120xl will not register with the radio any help welcolmed

When you say the 'data is not retained' do you mean directly after entering it or it is not retained after having switched the set off eg. ?

Just read you post. Press "band" after entering position etc. I can't get the GPS, a Lowrence, NMEA info to link up. Let me know if you have any luck.
