Suggestions on how best to repair this please.
I can get at the underside quite easily but it is tight up against a deck beam.
Thanks

Drew, i feel i have had a similar problem, can you send me a sketch of the problem?

I have had to deal with a similar problem. The beamshelf was hindering access to underside of the deck so I used epoxy to glue iroko pads to the deck on top. The replacement stanchion bases will be screwed/bolted through the pad and deck. With the bases raised slightly off the deck hopefully the problem will not recur. The deck is getting the Coelan treatment but has not yet been tested for weathering. Iroko pads are just visable in photo.

For once I got lucky, while asking around for a small piece of teak to do the repair with, it turns out the local boat broker is a fully qualified wooden boat builder. I explained my problem and he said he would have a quick look at it for me, and next time I looked it was done, and an excellent job it is too. He said it was such a simple repair he juts did it.
He has chopped out all the damage and let 2 small pieces teak into the resulting holes, both top and bottom are smooth and flush with the joints no bigger than a fine pencil line.
I think he has cut out 2 tapered holes and then made pieces that exactly fit.
No backing pieces just a very neat repair.
You may have guessed I impressed, I am i doubt my repair would have looked that good and would have taken far longer.
Its just shows their are still craftsmen about
I will take a picture or 2 next weekend
