I've just come back from 3 weeks sailing in brittany and the CI's. Thoughts now turn to sailing in majorca in september. Never sailed in hot climates before and scratching my head what will be required. I guess dubarry boots and full wet weather gear and a wolly hat is off the agenda.

The sailing in majorca will consist of day sailing and may be some night / day passages between the islands.

TIA

In my youth I used to backpack and bivouac a bit and more recently (but still in the past, thankfully) I traveled a good deal for work where carry-on only was the rule. The old backpackers method was:

1) spread out on a bed all the things you really can't possibly do without

2) pack half of it.

September in the Med can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. You can get some of the most intense rain you've seen accompanied by squalls, thunder and lightning and seas which build up very quickly. It was last September that Mahon was closed due to high winds when the Mistral blew long and strong.
Not trying to put a damper on the trip or anything similar and what storms there are are normally short lived but please don't be underprepared.
On the plus side the water is beautiful as is the weather, normally........ and as a cruising area Majorca is wonderful. Have a great time.
Regards

How thick is your blood??? Shorts and an optional "T"shirt are OK for day. sometimes evenings get cool, so trakkie bottoms and a sweatshirt are good, also a bit more mossie-proof. Bare feet good if the deck fittings allow. forage hat good. This is the way we do it in Scotland, but we've got a motor-sailer...
