Thanks Sailorman, Btw that was damn quick.
I do have a bit of info about the Aran 18 but the thread here on the prevoius Arran 18 has made me doubt wether this is an Arran 18 at all.

Yes.... use the image markup. When posting a reply, click on the reply button rather than a quick reply, then click on the image command - paste in the address into the pop-up box and you're done. Best 2 preview post first to check it is displayed correctly.

BTW, are you logged into Myspace when viewing this pic... might explain why I can't see it??

EDIT: yes I think thats it... you need to be logged in to view. Have you got a Photobucket account or something where you can host it... we could all see it then.

I had one of those about years ago....... was my first proper yacht

2 lockers on the aft quarters, with a recess for an outboard at the stern??

I was in the same position as you and spent ages trying to find out what it was.

I decided that it was an Arran 18 as well, i will find some pics and post them here later.

It would appear that there were a couple of different verisons of the Arran 18 and the model that you have, i had are the later versions.

I was once told that it was an early Hurley 18, the appearance was similar but it is much nearer to a Arran 18.

This link http://www.yachtbrochures.co.uk/grp.htm was not around when i had mine but they state they can provide a copy of the original sales brochure for an arran 18

Thanks very much for that.

Yes it does have the two lockers and the inset for the outboard.

It must be that the picture in the other thread I mentioned was an early version of the model.

I would dearly love to see some pictures of your boat. I am especially interested in how it was rigged. I do have lots of bits and the sails etc but I am not 100% certain of how they all go together.

This is my first "bigger" boat and at the moment it is undergoing restoration. I am very much a beginner at this game and need all the help I can get

Thanks for your reply
