So my neighbour has given me a "project" to sort out, one of his ebay purchases.

It's a combination Wind Vane and Anenometer from a ship.

It's made by Osakanunotani Seiki Co Ltd in 1977

The outside unit is about the same size as a small aerogen wind turbine, but with a much smaller propeller

Inside there are two large analogue meters, one for wind speed and one for direction, each round, 10" diameter.

The wiring from the head to the displays looks straightforward, just match the colours. 5 cores for the direction meter, and 2 cores for the speed meter.

but each meter then has 2 more terminals labeled V1 and L1 on one meter, and V2 and L2 on the other.

I'm guessing that's a supply voltage, but what voltage? what polarity?

I know it's a long shot as this isn't really a ships forum, but there are some ship people here, at they just might now something, or this terminology L1, V1 might mean something to them.
