My partner and I are looking to transfer from stink boat to sail. It's a big market and a difficult choice to decide on which boat to go for but we think we've narrowed it down to two that we can afford, (currently that is, this may change after this post!), and would appreciate anyone's view on these. There is a budget issue so please, no unaffordable suggestions. Choice is between Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 or Finngulf 37.
Appreciate any experience anyone has had which these boats.

Welcome to the Forum. Personally have no knowledge of either of your contenders. If you want advice about other potential candidates it would be a good idea to provide some advice on budget and how you plan to use the boat.

Welcome to the forums!

As already said, a bit more information would help us to answer you. For example you haven't said if you are buying new or used or given any idea of budget. It would be helpful also to know if you are looking for fin keel or lift keel or twin keel and if you are looking more for sailing performance or for perhaps a motorsailer type.

There are very many options to suggest!

Welcome to the forum, we are moving up from our 27ft to a 35ft/ 39ft. One of the main issues was having to use the saloon as a berth. Where and type of sailing will have a bearing. Our current boat has a 42% ballast ratio, difficult to match that with something modern. We drew up a list of what we must have, what would be useful and then the wish list. We included kit in this. We looked at a lot of very nice boats that were floating museums and were surprised by the cost of replacing kit. We sail all year, so heaters hot water etc. Replace the word house with boat, forget the garden, or replace that with mooring and the criteria is about the same.

Happy hunting

That makes a surprisingly difficult set of criteria to satisfy - what are you actually looking at?

No Chance /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

In some ways a 27' boat will have advantages over any bigger boat ever built (e.g. ease of singlehanding, mooring, costs...).

As an owner of a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35, my choice would be???? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Suits me.

Thanks for you and evryone else for your welcome to the forum. Forums are new to me so if I don't get it right, apologies!
Anyway, back to the boat. With regard to budget, there's about 100k in the pot. My partner, (whose will be the owner) requires new or nearly new, sailing will be in and around the solent, channel trips and up and down the west coast of england. So far we (she) liked the Jeanneau SUN Odyssey 35, Finngulf 37 (expensive) and Feeling 36.
Anyone have any other ideas?
