Help needed: Support Boat for kayaker - Wednesday to Friday (12-14 September 2012) from Toulon to Cannes.
A friend of mine, Chris Allix, is kayaking from the Isle of Man to Monaco for Charity. Yes that’s right from the top of the Irish Sea to the Med! Unusually for a challenge like this, he is not some 25 year old ex Olympian Paratrooper, but a 59 year old (60 next week!) overweight Englishman with no particular recent history of major exercise. (I hope he doesn’t read this).
Chris has been involved in the yachting industry for decades running a very successful yacht management/structure business from the Isle of Man. He is a familiar face at the world’s boat shows and superyacht shows and last year won a “legend of the industry” award at the Monaco Yacht Show. So I am hoping that this appeal to the boating community might bring some results.
As at today, Chris is paddling from Avignon to Arles and hopes to hit the Med at Marseille Sunday, in time to start the Marseille to Monaco run on Monday 10 September 2012. His aim was to leave the Isle of Man and get to Monaco in time for the Monaco Yacht Show.
He has a support boat for Monday and Tuesday which should get him up to Toulon. He also has an offer of a boat from Cannes to Monaco. However, he is looking for a support boat (RIB, Motorboat, Superyacht, Raggie, anything that floats) for Wednesday to Friday (12-14 September 2012) from Toulon to Cannes. Those dates are current schedule, but subject to weather of course.

This is a great cause and a huge challenge for my 59 year old overweight friend (again, Chris please don’t read this!).
If anyone out there is willing to help provide any form of support vessel for Wednesday to Friday (12-14 September 2012) from Toulon to Cannes, please PM me so that I can give you the relevant mobile numbers. For privacy reasons, I don’t intend to put the mobile number on here but if you think I should, please shout.
If it helps sweeten the deal, my firm will donate £250 to the charity of choice of the person who helps and a further £250 to Chris’ charity pot.
