She was made in1978, is in a rather poor contition
and has her original MD 2B engine.
As I don't know much about,
money will be from a bank loan and
I live from my salary,
ANY information about the boat is very wellcomed.

hi, sorry I cant help on the boat, but please consider that buying a boat in poor condition could well prove much more expensive than spending the money to buy one one in OK condition.

Yes, although the boat may be cheap all the parts you have to buy will be new, at new prices. It can become very expensive.

you gota ask yourself if you want to sail or re-build.

if you want to sail, you might want to go for a smaller boat that you can use now.

Using a bank loan to buy a yacht - you need a good one because you will have two mouths to feed - the loan AND the bits for replacement/repairs/maintenance etc.

Price up a few items: sheet winches, engine overhaul, new headsail.

Then consider if you really want to buy a boat in poor condition.

I don't know much about the Carter 33, but I think the Carters are good seaworthy boats.

The MD2B engine is a very good, reliable unit, but it is getting rather old. Parts (when available) can be a bit expensive. The engine may go on for another 20 years, but on the other hand a major problem now could mean that you have to replace it within the next couple of seasons, so you need to factor that into the price.

Yes, I'm afraid we are talking about the money - I agree with Lakesailor. We bought a boat for £29K 15 years ago, in sail away condition. We have spent at least 3 times that since. These things eat money.

What have you decided about the carter 33? I raced and cruised extensively on a friend`s carter for a number of years. Its a great safe boat. I bought it myself now and am rebuilding it after over 30 years of extreme punishment. I`ve even rebuilt the deck to hull joint so you can ask me anything about this model.
