i HAVE FITTED TWO NEW VETUS INSREMENT PANELS TO MY FLYBRIDGE AND CANNOT GET THE REV COUNTERS TO WORK , EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS O/K . THEY HAVE BEEN SPLICED ONTO THE PANELS BELOW DECKS[VOLVO] WE THINK IT MIGHT BE THAT THE VETUS TACHOS MUST NEED A TAKE OFF DIRECTLY FROM THE ALTENATOR WHERE AS THE VOLVO TACHO FEEDS FROM A SENDER ON THE ENGINE

CAN ANYONE HELP AS WHEN I GO TO SEA I CANNOT TELL WHAT REVS ARE WHEN ON FLYBRIDGE

Why don't you phone Vetus. They have always been very helpful when I have given them a buzz.Always dodgy to experiment with wiring if you are not 100% sure of your connections.

If the tachos need an AC signal from an alternator, it is quite easy to add one. Simply remove the cover from the alternator to gain access to the rectifier stack. Identify the thick copper wires from the stator windings - these will disappear inot the interior of the alternator. Solder a thin wire onto ONE wire where it connects to the rectifier assembly & lead it out through the cover. Connect it to the tacho signal in. You may need to adjust the switch on the tacho depending upon the alternator type. It is quite easy to guesstimate the revs at idle or check the engine spec & adjust the tacho to show the correct reading. (cica 500-700)or you may know from the previous tacho what they should be. Regards.
