Hi

This afternoon I bought a new Samsung mobile phone, ( ModelGT-E1150i) PAYG but I have inserted my Orange sim so as to utilise my Orange account and phone number.

The phone is asking me for the network code before activation, I have tried a couple of likely numbers etc.but have been rejected, I now only have 9 attempts left. I cannot find anything in the instructions.

Would very much appreciate any advice.

Thanks

David

Phones locked to a porovider

Yes around here that is a favourite trick to sell you a phone really cheap but they don't explain that it is locked to their network. It costs cash then to get it unlocked if you want to use another network. Go back to the seller and ask them olewill

It's not so much a trick, more a perfectly valid business model. Any UK network will charge him a fortune to unlock the phone so soon after he bought it.

You may be able to get an unlocking code online free of charge - it's realtively easy for Nokias but I've never tried with a Samsung. You will need to know the IMEI number of the phone and what network it is currently locked to.

Well here are three methods for changing your 4-Digit ID. This might work, even if you don't know the current code.

1) Log into your online account and click on "change your details" and then "change your 4-digit ID."

2) Call 450 from your Orange handset (or 07973 100 450 from a landline) and talk to a Customer Services agent to explain the problem.

3) Go to the store where you purchased the phone. Someone there should be able to help you.
