Hi All

Went to refuel on Thursday and as I pulled up to fueling berth oil warning light starting beeping and I had a loss of power and restricted to about 1200 revs.

Turned engine off (Volvo KAD 43) and refuelled anyway, then opened hatch after finding spare engine oil to find oil everywhere. Upon closer inspection it appears to have come from approx middle of top of engine and hit hatch which created a perfect circle approx 6 inches in diameter and then dripped all over engine. As crane was there already I got Volvo dealer to organise him to crane it out after advise from Volvo dealer what to do about it. They will look at it on Tuesday but any ideas from the forum, engine is Volvo KAD 43 18mnths old 168 hours running. I take it the warranty will cover the lift as I did not call the crane the dealer did.

So that blew the family weekend to Lezadrieux so I am a bit cheesed but glad it happened there and not by the Roches Doures in a 10mtr 13 knot tide.

Sorry to hear of your problem Dom, at least you're safe. Hope Volvo fix it for you but have you tried Sol.... no can't persuade myself to say it twice in one day.

As I said before it does alot of things but wont fix a knackered engine :-(

Lets see how quick they sort it out and how good the warranty is. At least whilst she is up all the servicing can be doneand she is being antifouled this wekend and I will be able to do all the pre season stuff now so hopefully no more probs for rest off the year.

That's a bit of a bugger Dom, hope you sort it out soon. From what you say it sounds as though an oil pipe could have come apart, hopefully no damage done and easy to repair. Let us know what they find.

These huge tides this weekend must be pretty spectacular over your way, I wouldn't like to battle against them!

Crossing the Little Russel has been a bit lively even in flat conditions what with the tide running and boat wash from everyone going out. Have been offered the us of a Falcon 23spc a Maxum 2300SCR and a Maxum 1900 SC for the weekend as mines out of action.

Had a big group of Sealines come over yesterday to stay in SPP. I went to Sark for lunch.

The low tide were more spectacular than the highs FIL found a 5kg Bruce and chain at the low tide mark and loads of people have been out ormering.

Fool Colic don't you know anything?? Local dialect, all boats go ormering along on these big tides fuelled by shell, and then take a good battering before the cooking stage.

They're a local shellfish delicacy only collected at low water, no scuba gear allowed (boo hoo!) and I believe that the collectors aren't even supposed to wear a wet suit. In this sort of weather many small nuts are also brought back with the ormers, but then you would know all about that!! <G>

The trianspotters amongst you may wish to note that an Ormer is an abalone, especially of the species Haliotis Tuberculata, found mainly (but not exclusively) in the Channel Islands. Save some for me!
