Hoping someone can assist me here as my boat is due back in the water very soon. I have fitted a new trim indicator rack to the port drive, lined it up correctly with the slot in the rotating cog. The indicator at the helm is fixed on -9 permanently. What have I done,or maybe not done?

Maybe the cog was not in the right position when you fitted the rack, check by rotating the cog with the rack removed to see if the reading changes then setting correctly.
Otherwise a faulty sender?

Hello dpb, yes I fitted the rack correctly. I have rotated the cog without the rack with no movement at all from the helm indicator. Is the sender a part of the multi block connector or in that area, down by the hydraulic reservoir?

It is mounted on the steering arm on the inside of the transom shield, at the end of the wires in this picture.......not a happy place to get to on my old boat!!!

On mine each leg shows -4 or -5 depending upon what time of day it is and if the sun is out. I never raise them but they seem to change on their own.

You never raise them? Do you not trim the boat when in use?

Nope...i just leave them tucked in all the way and it works for me.

The previous owner also never trimed them..maybe i'm doing it wrong but it's a big heavy old thing i have...7 tons

Might be the dash board unit, one of mine use to give random readings sometimes and all the lights would flash.....I let it be as they are expensive to replace.
You can swop the wiring at the dash with the other gauge unit to see if that is the culprit.
