A mate has an old aquadrive and the bearing has gone. The bolts in the coupling are rounded off and he will attack those with drills and a grinder. We don’t have a schematic of the whole thing. How is the coupling connected to the aquadrive the other side if the thrust plate?

Thanks Vyv. I did have a look at that and your website.

Is the coupling and the blue bit all one piece with bearing inbetween inside the collar/thrustplate? My friend wasn't sure how much he needed to take apart to get to the bearing.

As he was having to be brutal to get the bolts in the coupling undone he will want to take it out so as to drill out the chopped off bolts. (Glad I'm not doing this).

The drawings in the manual don't give an exploded view unfortunately.

It's a very long time since I fitted mine and I don't remember. Page 7.1 , the Classic model No. 20000 (49/202) seems to show that the CV unit just pulls out of the bearing housing on splines. The bearing is retained in the housing with a circlip.

The OP's picture shows a different drive from the one I fitted to my previous boat, but looking at Viv's link, I'd say that the rearmost cv joint needs to be separated from the green coloured flange. This, I'd hope would expose a nut holding the flange onto the splined clamp shaft. Removing this and the circlip should then allow the thrust bearing to be removed from the housing. Almost certainly a standard bearing.
I'd try to get the unit on a bench for these ops.
All a bit conjectural, but hope this helps!
