Help! Raymarine ST50/ST60 compatability

Could anyone please tell me whether I can use Raymarine ST60

(a) depth and

(b) speed

instruments with ST50 transducers???

Please say that the answer is "Yes!", otherwise I'll face the choice of lifting out and drilling new holes in the bottom of the boat, or sailing back to Britain via the shifting sands of the Frisians without instruments... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif((

A friend of mine has just fitted an ST60 speed display in place of an ST50. The speed works OK, but he cannot adjust the temperature reading - thought this is just an extra. The speed transducer is the one that was fitted to work with the ST50.

He hasn't calibrated the ST60 yet, but sees no reason that it will not calibrate.

I cannot answer on the Depth display, though, if the speed transducer worked with both the ST50 and ST60, maybe the depth transducer will work with both.

Hope this helps you. Have a good safe sail.

p.s. one thing I will add, is that the display depth of the ST60 is deeper than the ST50

Thanks very much! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Can't say I'm too fussed about temperature. Fingers crossed that the depth works too, as that's the one I need most!

my temperature is never right, and I'm not bothered otherwise I would look into it. I've heard the same from other owners.

Raymarine have a web site and will answer customer queries on new and old equipment (raymarine, raytheon and autohelm).
They promise to answer any questions within 48hrs - costs nowt
I have had a lot of useful feedback from them when I bought secondhand out of production stuff recently and I needed to match up equipment.
No connection - just a customer

Thanks for the reassurance everyone. Just to confirm, I hooked up the depth to the old transducer, and as y'all told me it should, it's working fine - at least up to 4m which is the deepest I've sailed today...

Phew!

Still got to hook up the speed, but I'm sure that'll be fine too, and anyway it's less critical. Don't want to spend another season 'swinging the lead'.
