Hi guys.

Can anyone advise me on this please? I had a slight leak from the tell-tale on the raw water pump. This is a Johnson F6B-9 fitted to a Nanni 4-390 TDI.

So, I ordered a new seal and having removed the pump, I found the bearings feel a bit "lumpy" when turning it by hand. Now I'm thinking it would be best to replace the bearings as well as the seal.

Trouble is, the nut on the engine side of the shaft seems incredibly tight and won't shift. Maybe it's a left hand thread?

Anyone know?

Quite a few variationsa on the drive for this pump, but the one with a threaded drive looks like M12 x 1.25, doesn't mention a hand so would assume Right hand.

It's now off at last! Right hand thread. Thank you superheat.

My torque wrench only goes up to 150Nm. Not enough!

Finally went with 3 foot of conduit on a bar, however many Nm that is.

This may help - I had mine apart this winter (Nanni T4.155hp) and found that the genuine Johnson Impeller did not like being fitted to the pump shaft.
I found this out after I hade refitted the shaft with new bearings and seals back into the pump body. Suggest trial fit the impeller onto the shaft before fitting the shaft and bearings etc into the pump body.

I fitted rubber shielded 6203-2RSH x 2 and 1 x 24x40x7 seal and 1 x 16x28x7 seal if that helps. 17mm external circlip and a 40mm internal circlip.

My gear was also F tight onto the pump shaft.

Regards

Paul
