Hi,

For the life of me I can't work out how to get power to the Status Powerpack antenna amplifier located in the locker above the saloon fridge.

I took the box apart to check for a fuse but there isn't one. The power lead coming into the box disappears behind the fridge and I can't get to it without removing the fridge first (which I'll do in the morning).

I saw the red led on on our delivery trip so it has worked recently but I've now switched on everything from the mains panel and can't get it to work. There must be something I'm missing here so any pointers to check would be greatly appreciated.

I already missed the FIN - USA ice hockey game...

It a standard fair line fit, and from memory it's a 12 volt amp, so I'd be looking at a 12 volt feed as the status set up is for caravans.

Go to the main panel and make sure every trip on the 12 volt side is switched on, you might just be lucky, if not it's 4 screws to take the fridge out, the screws are located behind some black plastic plugs.

VP is right. It is normally fed from the 12v dc panel. If the boat is geenrally 12v look for a breaker etc. If it is a 24v boat there will be a 24v-12v dropper so you need to check the 24v supply to it is turned on; this dropper usually feeds other things like the car radios and vhf

Thank you for your feedback.

A few pieces had to come off but I got the fridge out only to find the wire disappear behind a corner. Got the panel off behind the port sofa from where I saw it turn into the engine room. Not quite there yet but I'll work it out.

Are you sure there is no power to the amp? If the inner and outer of the coax cable between the amp and the antenna is shorted then the led will not light. Try unplugging the coax cables.

I don't have my voltmeter with me so can't really tell, but you maybe right. I'm having a problem with the radar arch connections after the recent transportation so this may actually be connected (pun intented).

The power to the amp does not come from the antenna, the co ax cable runs from the amp to the dish, as said there will be a 12 volt feed to he amp hence no l e d, try the radio/ cd player near the fridge area, does that have power as that would be my obvious choice where to take power from to the amp should I have been doing the installation.

If you've got the original electrical sheet for the boat (in the box with the handbook) it'll list all the breakers, and should specify where the tv amp is powered from. (On my T40 the tv amp is on one of the aux breakers).

Cheers
Jimmy

Had another look at the electrical sheet but could not find tv amp mentioned. Apparently there is a breaker in the heavy duty box for stereo memory so need to check that out next time I'm on the boat, but stereo would appear to work ok. Must also remember to take the voltmeter along.

Thanks again for everyones input.

Just an update on this. I went back with a voltmeter to test the wire going to the Powerpack and it was receiving 12 v as it should have but as said no red led on the gadget and no picture on the telly...

Apparently the (Status) Powerpack feeds the actual amplifier that resides inside the TV-antenna on the radar arch and does this through the coax cable coming from the said antenna. The Powerpack had failed and wasn't giving out any power through the Ant IN (ie. coax going up) hence no picture.

The local TV-guy put in a new power source and the problem was solved.
