Hi we are looking for help regarding wiring for a solar panel MPPT battery charge controller, running in conjunction with an existing mains battery charger?
My boat is normally connected to a shore power supply when alongside, can the solar charge controller output be connected in parallel with the existing output to the batteries? The same question applies when running the engine and the alternator is kicking out a supply to the batteries?
I assume that these controllers / chargers look after themselves when there are two (possibly three sources in my case) charging supplies going to the batteries as we always start the engine before disconnecting shore power, but I would like confirmation of this before I destroy an expensive bit of kit?
