I have recently purchased a small cabin boat with 30hp outboard which is lovely
only problem is that i have no idea what it is and to get it insured they need to know make and model otherwise the insurance would be null and void. There is no id plate on the boat.
please , please , help
Someone suggested 'Byron' might know .......

Hello Adam, no! Sorry! I don't recognise your boat. My forte is with boats of the 50s/60s/70s and this one of yours is quite obviously new.
As regards the insurance, I don't know who told you that a boat by an unknown manufacturer is not covered. This is poppycock. If they have issued cover then the craft is insured.

My insurance has always been linked to a surveyors report, perhaps that would satisfy your insurer.

Or is it being a newish boat they would forego a report for make, model and year?

Having started with a couple of boats of this size my ins co were happy to accept my valuation on the boat which was basically what I paid for it plus a bit for luck.
My advice would be find out the price of a new engine as that will be 75% of the total value and a good guide to replacement cost.
Getting a survey done now will probably tell you nothing you do not already know and be a waste of money.

Might be worth a browse thru "Boat Mart Magazine", there are a lot of small manufacturers that have ads in that mag, that you dont see anywhere else.

Just a thought..
