I was tidying up Fairweather on Sunday afternoon prior to going home, and watching a few yachts that appeared to be doing a little club race up Fareham creek

One of them was a particularly good looking boat, similar and about the size of a Contessa 32, with a very sharp bow and a rounded aft end of the cockpit, it was going beautifully in the flat water with 15kt breeze blowing, and rather caught my eye.

The symbol on the sail was a 0 with a line across the middle dividing the top and bottom.

Any ideas?... Thanks Nick.

Hi Nick

I took loads of photos of that race last year as they went past our mooring with their spinakers up. Sent some of them to the FSMBC email address and never heard anything.

I still have them if anyone from FSMBC is interested.

Edit>
Was it this boat by any chance?

I'm fairly sure that's a Javelin 30. It races in the Fareham/Portchester/Hardway interclub series in and around the Solent.

'Morning Dave,

Yup.. thats the boat! I'm still not sure what is is though..it does look very much like the S&S34 but maybe a bit smaller. I just loved the look of her, so few new boats look good now, just functional.

The fleet went down the creek with the spinakers set and then returned hard on the wind, a real mixed bag of boats but looked great!

Thanks for the picture, and I hope your crew member has got over her 'fall'; sounded like it could have been a lot worse.

All best Nick

Hi Nick

The Javalin is a pretty boat, designed by Fred Parker and built by various makers.
I used to own a Mystere Flyer (sometimes called the baby Javalin) from the same designer - 26ft long rather than 30ft with the Javalin.
They both sail very nicely too...

Cheers
Mike
