Can't help with any local advice, but just a couple of things on trailers and beach launching.

Reduce your tyre pressure on the trailer and vehicle to 18 PSI anytime you are on the sand (obviously you will need an electric compressor and gauge to re-inflate, just a cheapy is fine).

We use extendible drawbars (temporary attachments) to lessen the effect of launching the motor vehicle ;) while on a beach (PM me for details if you wish).

When you stop the vehicle and trailer on the sand prior to the launch or retrieve, just leave the trailer on a slight angle to the vehicle (doesn't matter which side), so that when you set off to go, the car doesn't have to pull both wheels out off the sand at once. The initial pull only has to get one side out at a time. It is the initial pull that is important, when the boat is loaded back on the trailer.

You will be surprised how much resistance the tyre and wheel can create in a hole in the short time being buried by the action of sea water washing around it. The same effect as yourself standing in ankle deep water on a sandy beach, you soon start to sink.

With the trailer brake thing, have you got the old enclosed drum and shoe set up, or a disc and caliper type. If the former, and you need your brakes to work all the time.....think about the latter option.

Yep go to Vic's Yard its just opposite land and sea park your trailer in his yard he will then launch and recover you with his tractors very good service. Saves ruining your car.

thanks

thanks for your replys ive decided to go for the tractor launch at vics yard when im on my own i was there last sunday watching them launch them was very impressed how easy it was i dont suppose anybody knows how much it costs just to turn up on the day and be launched...

Yeh its a slick operation. Takes a bit of doing when there is 100 od boats out and they all want recovering at 5.30 , Its £20 for skis and £25 for powerboats.
