Help - Jabsco Par Max 2.9 won't self prime

Is there an air lock on the inlet side that is preventing water reaching the inlet spigot?

Could you blow down the inlet pipe to assist prime briefly, then connect up again?

Is the accumulator correctly set up with the air pressure through the little schrader valve?

I have to do this with my engine at start of season to get the water pump to prime.

Edit: You have a suckey/blowy thing on board for blocked sinks, don't you? Could you suck water through with pump running until it primes?

On a cruise. I ran out of water. Refilled the tank. Pump not self priming. Water at the in side but nought at the out. I have taken the hose off the outlet and run the pump - nothing.

TIA

You may have picked up some debris from the tank bottom which is now preventing one of the pump valves from seating although the pump inlet strainer, assuming one is fitted, should prevent this.

It might be worthwhile connecting the pump to a pressurised water supply to see if you can flush anything through. Other wise dismantle and carefully clean the valve assembly.

Also check and clean the inlet strainer. Fit one if there is not one fitted.

New valve assembly if needed about £11.

Note that this pump does not need an accumulator tank.

From their instructions....

With pump switch off and battery fully charged, fill water tank,
open all faucets, then turn pump switch on. Water will begin to
flow. When the water is free of air, turn faucets off. Remember,
you are filling the water heater and the toilet and shower lines.
When all valves are shut-off, pump will stop. Should pump fail to
stop, turn switch off and see the trouble shooting guide.
