morning all,

last couple of days I failed sourcing a wastegate for my engine locally, so need some pointers for dealers (preferably in the EU) keeping them in stock, or even better sourcing the main component manufacturer.
Turbo is by KKK (was told either a K24 or a K26) but wastegate is liquid cooled, external, mounts on top of the exhaust manifold and through a valve seals exhausts gases that then escape to the exhaust riser (not through the wastegate itself, but from the manifold.

The whole story on this thread http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthrea...vving-as-much-as-strbrd&p=5342894#post5342894
Turbo (also affected) is rebuilt and the original "riser" scraped and custom ones fabricated so just need a wastegate, the machinist to clear the carp out of the manifold and re lap the seat for the wastegate valve and then reassembling the lot.

Vas,

This set up was allegedly designed by Fabio Buzzi and Iveco people refer to it as Buzzi valve. I suspect this is a proprietary item only available from FPT. Good news is that FPT parts pricing policy is now very competitive.

Good luck

thanks Paul,

I guess the new item would look like the one listed here (only it's aircooled and not watercooled)

having a bit of a problem with takeovers, namechanges, et al regarding FIAT/IVECO/IVECO-AIFO/FPT.
Seems that all is now under the umbrella of FPT, new marine engines are different and seems that there are ppl dealing with some of them but not all!
IVECO trucks are maintained by a series of garages around here that they've not seen this before and don't know where I can get spares.
Even on a national level it's not clear if the official dealer for IVECO is also doing them. Will be in Athens on Wed so I'll try and get to them and see what they have in their lists.

I'd have thought that I'd be able to order one through the web, but doesn't seem to be that easy to even find my engine listed!

cheers

Hi V, physical contact shouldn't make things much easier these days, but just in case, if you would find a supplier around Milan and you could use some support for further checks/purchase/whatever, don't hesitate to ask.
Btw, I'm also not far from Seatek and Buzzi own factory, which as I understand from what LS said were the original developers of that part, but I wouldn't hold my breath re. their availability to give such sort of retail support...

Vas

Post me an engine serial#. I have a pal who is an Iveco truck dealer and I have purchased marine (FPT) parts from him without any problems. Lets see if we can identify the correct part#.

We do not know correct setting of boost capsule so better stick to genuine.

Good luck

thank you P & P,

let's wait till tomorrow lunchtime as I've got a tel no in Athens and he allegedly keeps stock of AIFO engines' parts.
If that doesn't work then I'll send you the serial# in order to trace the part.

I hope I don't have to bother the other P. in Milan for a bleeding sparepart, but not even having the diagrams/parts lists doesn't help much..

cheers

hm,

over to you P,

8061SRM33
serial # 260730

check with your mate please as I almost fell off my chair when I heard over the phone that the wastegate would set me back 700euro (and will probably take a month if it's in stock in Italy!)
is that what you call "reasonably priced spares"?
What would unreasonable be then? 2K for a bleeding valve???

Wonder if they are serviceable, as in dismantleable as in that case I could keep the body and replace the valve using the Mamba 100AU$ I found on ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171821327...IT&clk_rvr_id=853845046747&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true )!
Unless we find something reasonably priced I may get that and experiment. Or open it and swap the springs with my failing one...

Finally, I feel that if the air cooled one actually fits, I'm much better off getting an aircooled wastegate and replace it every couple of years (assuming the liquid cooled aspect helps longevity in the enclosed environment of the engine bay of a boat compared to a truck) rather than spending 700 for an original spare!

cheers

V.
