I am researching family history and trying to identify the design of the yacht in the photo. My father purchased the yacht in Paignton in 1939, (for £25)
The photo was taken in the Summer of 1939 (guess where), and she was laid up in Mashfords yard, Cremyll, later that year for the duration of the War while my father was away. In 1946 she was launched, with a new set of sails as the originals had been disposed of by the Luftwaffe. My father always referred to the yacht as a "Z 4 tonner" of Harrison Butler design, but it does not look anything like the images I can find on line.Zelma 1939.jpg
Any help appreciated.

Not a Z 4-tonner. Looks a bit like an extended version of this...

If you have not opened communication with the Harrison Butler mob it would be worth doing, they are very much alive and kicking.

Mashfords built and looked after several Harrison Butlers so that is a link of sorts.

As others have said nothing at all like a Z4, for which I have a copy of the original brochure. Very pretty hull, not sure about the coachroof.
