I bought a Bayliner with an inboard 305 that had been removed from the boat. The block was left in the weather and so I bought a reman 350 long block to replace it. When putting it together I have a question. The carburetor is a two barrel Rochester and the stud are existing. The rear studs are about an inch longer than the front and its obvious that something needs to mount at the back of the carburetor. But I can't figure out what that would be. Any ideas?
Thanks

Its possible a air filter should fitted on the studs or a hose fitted going to a filter box.
I'll look for that in what parts are left in the boat. I either have to figure out what goes there or change out the studs. I am changing things up a bit anyway by putting in the 350 instead of the 305. I think the previous owner put in a car engine instead of marine as the existing carb was from a car and I had trouble with identifying cast numbers from the block. It's cool though, as I always liked jigsaw puzzles. :)
Thanks

In searching through the wiring left attached on the boat I found a bracket with solenoid switch and a circuit breaker mounted on it. that bracket uses the rear studs on the carburetor to bolt on. it was just hidden under the power steering unit which was still attached to it hoses and just laying in the bottom of the engine compartment. I am still working the engine and haven't started the boat internals yet. Thanks again
